La Culebra

Product no.: 167.OR181

La Culebra is a traditional Mexican folk dance that depicts a story of a group of men working in the fields. As they are working, their wives are on their way to the fields to pay a visit. In their way to the fields, they encounter a group of venomous snakes. The men, hearing their wives scream in terror, run toward them and begin to fend off the snakes, slapping them with their sombreros. In the end, the snakes win the battle, and the men go to their wives and collapse in their arms.  The colorful dresses, foot stomping, and sombrero slapping could be portrayed when playing this piece for dramatic effect.
