I began sketches of Cracked during a saxophone master-class. While listening to a piece by Ryo Noda, melodic shapes and gestures flooded my mind as I frantically diagrammed the beginning of Cracked. Since my primary instrument is saxophone, I was very excited to search for new sounds capable of this diverse instrument that I had not recently discovered. This piece is intended to sound extreme in its intensity. It should put the listener on edge and illustrate a work that is truly Cracked to the point of breaking.
